I was lucky enough to catch Aimee Mann performing in Berlin recently, and she blew me away. Small talk to the crowd’s not really her thing, but hell, who wants inane banter anyway? It’s so refreshing to encounter an artist unencumbered by the need to please.
When she performed Save Me, (which apparently narrowly missed winning an Academy Award for best song (Phil Collins* won BAH!)), the entire audience was absolutely, positively, captured. I don’t think I’ve ever actually experienced a concert where everybody has been so willingly drawn into the atmosphere of the song.
*Don’t tell anyone but I actually don’t entirely dislike Phil Collins. I don’t own any records/ tapes/ mp3s, but you put on Against All Odds and anything could happen…

Greetings from Munich! Do you know when she is touring Germany?
Hey Rod, I use songkick to track my favourite musicians. You just sign up for updates and it tells you when they’ll be in your area. Cheers, STF
Thank you and I guess I will be now making a trip to Dresden!
